Leading a sustainable lifestyle is now more important than ever. There are many advantages to be more sustainable and I will be listing them below.
1. Save more money by wasting fewer resources
One example of saving more money by wasting fewer resources would be the topic of food. Often times when we eat out, the portion sizes are big and food eventually meets the dustbin. Instead of eating out, you can cook your own meals where you can control the portion size. By doing this, you reduce food waste as well as saving more money due to how expensive takeaways have become.
2. Improves health
For example, living in a space that is illuminated by natural lights instead of artificial lights has a few health benefits. One would be that natural lights is shown to increase happiness and in some cases, reduce depression. Another benefit would be vitamin D which the sun is the biggest supplier of.
3. Reduced Energy consumption, which leads to smaller electricity bills
One way to reduce energy consumption would be the use of LED lights. LED lights are one of the more energy efficient form of illumination and is more efficient compared to traditional lighting. It is also 100% recyclable. It also has a longer lifespan which is great since you don't have to change the lights often.
4. Grow your knowledge and skills
Living a sustainable lifestyle pushes you to learn skills and knowledge. An example of this would be buying clothing. It is important to have knowledge of what materials are sustainable and what are not. It is also good to learn skills such as sewing to alter your clothes to more of your style. You can also fix simple defects with basic sewing skills. It also makes you to be more resourceful of the items you have which helps to save money and churn out less waste.
These benefits help to improve the quality of life while helping the environment. Thanks for reading!
